Cranleigh Arts New Gallery Cafe Project

Cranleigh Arts is a unique community asset as well as a live performance centre, used by over 1,000 people per week both as members of our audiences or the huge range of community groups that hold their classes here. Its focal point is the coffee bar, adjacent to our splendid gallery space, where people gather to chat and enjoy their tea, coffee and cakes; many of them aren’t involved in activities here but come simply for companionship and a friendly welcome from the volunteers that run it.

Unfortunately, the present coffee bar is no longer fit for purpose, having last been updated 10 years ago. We are planning to update and improve it and rename it The Gallery Café. By redesigning and enlarging the area, we aim to give it a more contemporary and attractive appearance. The increased work space will enable flexibility for more than one volunteer to work together thereby improving service, visitor experience and much-needed income. This is an opportunity for all aspects of the new café to be as energy efficient as possible and as such we will be supporting the environment and minimising running costs.

Among our regular users are small local charities, U3A groups, Cranleigh Arts Society, a dementia support group, the NHS, Chamber of Commerce, community choir, craft groups, yoga & fitness classes, mindfulness and wellbeing tutors and many, many more. Cranleigh Arts has become a hugely popular venue for films, event screenings of opera, ballet & theatre, comedy, live music, classical concerts, local school productions etc.

Every donation small or large towards our Gallery Café Project will be appreciated by everyone who visits, works or performs in our very special community arts centre.
