Hello my name is Clifton Cato. My wife, Vanessa and I started a small catering business in 2014 in Raleigh, North Carolina. We decided to name our business Creative Caribbean Catering. I cook Caribbean food with a strong focus on Jamaican dishes. Raised in Jamaica, I learned to cook while watching and helping my grandmother and mother. Their methods of making Jerk Chicken, Brown Stew Chicken, Curried Goat, Oxtail, Rice and Peas, Plantains and Escoveitch Fish are with me always in every dish I prepare.
I have kept my skills sharp by continuing to make various delicious Jamaican dishes for friends and family.
Vanessa and I catered small events while we both worked full time jobs. In 2018, I made catering my full time job. Opportunities were increasing each month. We catered swim club events, bridal rehearsal dinners, family reunions, car dealers'Saturday lunches, and church events.
Coronavirus hit hard the first week of March! All events were canceled. We were scheduled to cater our first large wedding celebration on March 28, 2020.
The wedding was canceled as social distancing rules were put in place to mitigate the impact of the virus.
Our business is small, but it was finally moving in the right direction-up. Then the bottom dropped out due to the devastation the Coronavirus dropped on us. All events were canceled. Vanessa was laid off from her full time job in the Hospitality Industry. We quickly realized that we had to adapt to the circumstances before us or shut the doors and walk away. We decided to fight back. Innovation and resilience was our response to this disaster.
Now is the time,we decided, to take catering from its traditional setting and deliver to our customers at home or in the office or at curbside.
We've explored other possible means of support including small business loans, and grants; however, most of these funds have run out of money for the many small businesses like ours. Others offer no guarantee s and they will not meet our immediate need for funds.
We are most humbly asking for your help. We know that this is a very difficult and uncertain time for everyone, and we understand that there are many individuals and organizations in need. If you are in a position to help us we are very grateful to receive your help. We have the energy, the will, and the motivation to continue in this business, but we cannot do it alone in the face of this pandemic. Funds donated to our campaign will be used to pay the cost of rent, insurance, inventory and supplies. Your donations will help keep Creative Caribbean Catering a thriving small business in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Your support would be keep our dream alive! Again, your support would maintain our status as contributing members of the small business community of Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina. Your support would contribute to meaningful employment and financial stability for us both personally and professionally. We are Safe Served Management certified. We have approval from Durham and Wake County Public and Environmental Health. Our Sanitation rating is A 98.5.
Creative Caribbean Cantering donated twelve meals to Durham's main police station located at 602 E main street Durham, NC on May 8th. Our goal is to donate twelve meals each week to different police stations in Durham. We plan to continuing showing our gratitude to families in our local community who are experiencing homelessness and food insecurity by offering a great Jamaican meal at no cost.
We are also asking for your support by considering ordering, in advance a meal for friends or family. Your order or your donations will make all of this possible.
Thank you in advance for your order or whatever amount you feel free to donate.
