Create a garden space for children with SEN

Sen Talk is a small non-profit organisation providing play and learning opportunities for children and young people with Special Educational Needs such as; Autism or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder aged 5-16 in the local borough of Wandsworth. With a small team of four and community volunteers we serve over 1500 families per year offering respite opportunities and support for parent carers in our little hub space nestled in the heart of the community. However, our building has little outside space and we have been utilising the parks and commons for years. As an organisation we understand how important access to outside space is for children's development, especially within urban environments where often children and young people do not have access to gardens. We are starting this campaign in hope of raising important funds to create an outside space for our service users, albeit small we are positive we can make something special that vulnerable families can enjoy safely within our space. We are looking to purchase garden storage, paint, sensory toys and equipment to maximise what we have.

Yesterday we were delighted to have to help and support of 15 volunteers for a local charity who helped create a blank canvas for this project. They have pulled weeds, cleared a mountain of rubbish which had been dumped on our site and have made it now possible to raise the funds to provide our service users with a space for the summer.
