Create free kits to provide our elderly with solar heaters

Hi my name is Dennis I'm the founder of tiktok channel Dementiajourney a dementia awareness channel. I started the channel in May this year and so far we have received over 3 million views across all of our awareness videos charting our journey caring for my mum who has advanced stage mixed dementia.

We have a fantastic community of caring loving people who range from Dementia sufferers, carers and loved ones looking after family members. This platform is a force for good and we have managed to help multiple people navigate thru the complex world of getting help in UK.

Right now so what is this gofundme for?

Since labour government have got into power they have launched a full on assault on our elderly with upto 8 million pensioners set to lose their 300 pounds winter fuel allowance.

According to labours own study performed 3 years ago, removing this benefit will cost lives not hundreds but several thousands of lives.

I'm not prepared to sit back and let our elderly freeze to death. 6 years ago my father a retired engineer and inventor, made two solar heaters for their bungalow. These heaters have been a godsend and provide heat all year round no matter the outside temperature as long as the sun is out.

This simple to make and install panel provides 45c heat being pumped into your house.

As not everyone has the tools or skills to make these panels, I want to create a flat packed self assembly kit of these solar heaters. With our fantastic community on tiktok we have the reach and a list of volunteers across UK to help us install these panels in old people's homes.

The go fund me money is to pay for a cheap commercial premise to make the kits and the small amount of power tools which will be required. Any money over and above the cost of the above will be used to giveaway free panel kits for the elderly. We will document our journey on tiktok step by step and hopefully encourage councils and donors from across the UK to get these into as many pensioners homes as possible. How to guide videos will be created so that people can make their own. The cost per unit is approx 150 pounds for the materials.

The flat pack kits will be sold at cost, unlike the big energy companies and our government we are not out to profit from our elderly.

The idea is to sell the flat pack kits for £350 to those that want one and can afford it. Each sale will fund a free kit to an elderly in need free of charge. I'm retired so don't need to pull a salary so happy to work as volunteer to make the kits as we scale up then economy of scale will come in for materials and this will pay for any additional labour we may need. This will be setup a purely non profit organisation. We will use our social media presence especially on tiktok to encourage donors and to get the message out there. I fully intend to reach out to age UK on best way we handle donations of the solar blanket.
