Hi There!!!
I have been through a lot in my life and I’ll be honest this right here is probably one of the hardest, most humbling things I have ever done. So bare with me as I share my story, thoughts and dreams with you.

Since I was in OT school in 2006 I knew I wanted to make a difference in the lives of all people but my passion has always been with children. Fast forward over 13 years within the field…and I have impacted more lives than I probably know. There is never a day I don’t want to go to work, it’s actually the opposite.. I have to tell myself to put the work down. (I LOVE what I do)!! I have crossed things off my bucket list and while most would think my bucket list would consist of Hawaii, Scuba Diving in the clearest oceans and then some… it’s honestly to make a difference everyday in the lives of others. I have done that by furthering my education in the field of OT and getting my Doctorate, presenting to teachers and administrators in venues as large as the Convention Center, volunteering my time to numerous families to support and attend PPTs meetings to advocate for their child’s best interests. I have written grants to build sensory gyms in schools, I’ve created a private swim lesson business to teach children with special needs, I have written and published an article on how supporting our teachers in the classroom can decrease the need for services within the school. I have spent hours listening to lonely patients in the hospital whose lives have changed in a second due to illness while in the same day I’ve held the hands of families as they watched their loved ones take their last breath. I have been there for patients who have felt their hand move again for the first time after a stroke. The list goes on and on and most of it is behind the scenes.

If you are still reading, Thank You. If you know me, you know I’m hard working, compassionate and driven. I am here because my heart is telling me I can do more. I crossed a huge item off my bucket list three years ago.. the dream of owning my own OT practice, Mindful Motion Therapy LLC.
I was given the opportunity to create a small space which I called my office in New Britain, Ct. However, life happens and I had to make some hard decisions to close the doors of my practice about a year ago. Since that day there has been a void in my heart. I have continued to work with families in libraries, their homes, at the park and any other space we could find to keep Mindful Motion Therapy name alive.

I am currently a full time OT in a public school district and spend my hours working on evaluating students that need more than I can give them within the time constraints of my position and their school day. Parents are lacking the education they need to help their children and the staff are struggling to stay a float with curriculum and other school demands. Students are falling through the cracks and the waitlists for outpatient OT is insane. The need for me to put my pride aside and follow my dreams is overwhelming.

I want nothing more than to make a difference not only in my community but within the lives of children and families. There is nothing I want more than to have a safe space for children to learn, play, create and enjoy themselves while increasing independence and skills they need to be successful in life. I am here to ask for help financially to get my practice back up and bigger, stronger and better than ever. I am looking at spaces with the Avon, Farmington, West Hartford, Simbury areas. I do not have an exact location in mind but the phone calls are in for my top three locations.

With that being said the overhead to be able to make this a reality is beyond my finances of a single full time working mom of two small boys. I can’t be in all the places and put the time and money that is needed to create this vision that I have to make Mindful Motion Therapy LLC. a reality without the help of my people. I promise to give back to the community, make something larger than me, and to change lives one at a time. I am asking for donations to help me purchase equipment and materials for a new larger space (swings, mats, sensory equipment and more) and to help with paying the lease for a few months while I build my schedule and clientele. While I am one to always give to others I know this is a HUGE ask and please don’t feel as though you need to give. I am beyond blessed to be in a position to even ask for this kind of help and appreciate it more than you know.

I will keep you posted on my journey and appreciate each and every one of you who took the time to read this or donated to make my dreams a reality.
