Create Pride and Prejudice: A New Musical Comedy

Hi, my name is Tara Raczenski. I am a professional theatre enthusiast who is equally nuts about Jane Austen. Ten years ago, I embarked on the dream of creating a musical version of Pride and Prejudice. My goal has been to fully embrace the comedic elements of a story that, after 200+ years, continues to delight, inspire, and laugh at the follies of human nature. Working copy in hand, I hired and collaborated with local pianist and composer, Chris Tilley, to create the musical score for this adaptation. The result is Pride & Prejudice: A New Musical Comedy featuring songs that are "light, bright, and sparkling" and a libretto intended to honor the spirit and wit of Austen's enduring novel.

Promotional recording and orchestration are the next big steps in the journey toward full-scale production and publication. Toward this end, I will be collaborating with local singers and musicians and hopefully, YOU! Theatre is at its best when a community is behind it, and whether you love Jane Austen, musical theatre, or just have a passion for supporting artists, your donation will help me bring this dream to life.
