Welcome to The Center for Connection + Collaboration - Asheville NC USA
CCC-AVL
The Triple C

Please watch this lovely video by David Gwaltney about our project ... CCCAVL

We are fundraising in order to convert the home of CCC Founder and Director Claire Elizabeth Barratt into a multi-purpose studio facility that can be used by the community as

A COLLABORATION INCUBATOR!!!

A place where creatives of all kinds can come together.

Construction has been underway, with the help of friends, for the past year.

Here are some details about our plans:

The VISION:

A habitat for the purpose of connecting with others and investigating modes of collaboration.

A place where creatives of all kinds can come together to:
share, explore, learn, witness, experience, plan, create, discuss, develop, exchange … and more, without the confines of traditional venues.

Connections and collaborations can take many forms:
workshops, classes, performances, meetings, discussions, presentations, residencies, celebrations, parties, ceremonies, screenings, installations, exhibitions … and more.

Themes / Subjects / Genres can be:
Artistic (performative, visual, literary, musical)
Culinary
Scientific
Sacred / Spiritual
Environmental
… and more.

The PHYSICAL SPACE:

CCC-AVL is a private residence that is being renovated and modified to create studio facilities.
A 1914 cottage in the historic North Asheville neighborhood looking up to Grove Park Inn.
There is already quite a history of events here:
Themed garden parties and bonfire parties, dinners and brunches.
Electronic music concerts in the garage, Classical music salons in the living room. The CCC will be a continuation and expansion of community that has been developing here since the family’s ownership in 1992.

INSIDE …
+ Living room will be an intimate studio/gallery space (upright piano)
+ Front bedroom will be a costume and prop shop.
+ Office / Library area will continue to serve the same purpose with the addition of being a comfortable sitting room and small meeting room.
+ Kitchen can accommodate small-scale culinary events (electric range)

OUTSIDE …
+ Covered front porch.
+ Small back patio.
+ Long stretch of lawn.
+ “Claire’s Garage” - a rather unusual garage built of large rocks. Concrete floor. Equipped with three pronged power sockets on three sides.

LOCATION …
+ North Asheville, NC.
+ Approximately one mile from both downtown and UNCA.
+ Just off the main highway running N/S through town.
+ Convenient local amenities.
+ Easy access to the interstate as well as the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The FOUNDER:

Who am I and why am I doing this?

+ Claire Elizabeth Barratt / aka Cilla Vee.
+ International inter-disciplinary artist.
+ Founder and Director of Cilla Vee Life Arts.
+ Creator of the Living Art performance pedagogy and practice method.

I have a passion for making connections.
I thrive on the energy of cross-disciplinary collaborations and I have a heart for bringing people together.
I want to offer opportunities for creative exchange, for unexpected interactions.
I want to host traveling artists and creatives and provide an opportunity for connection with the local Asheville community.

I believe that a truly vibrant scene doesn’t suddenly appear from no-where, it evolves from a community of individuals who are dedicated to experimenting and exploring together.
In order for valuable work to manifest, a lot of brewing and bubbling has been going on under the surface!
I have a vision for facilitating and nurturing this process.

INCLUSIVE = FOR ALL
What would YOU want to do here?

Please consider making a donation to support this valuable community project.
As we gradually emerge from the wreckage of the COVID-19 pandemic, many small independent venues have been forced to shut down. We want to provide a place of hope where collaborative creativity can thrive.
