We are the Center for Artificial General Intelligence Investigations
We’re an open science research group working to represent the public interest. Our mission is to ensure that organizations and individuals with conflicting interests aren’t the sole voices of authority on the emergence of “human-level” artificial intelligence.
Simply put: We think the stakes are too important to allow direct shareholders in the “race to AGI” to control the narrative surrounding what, exactly, constitutes a “human-level” intelligence.
Our mission is to develop a set of definitions and protocols through peer-reviewed research that will allow us to deploy multidisciplinary teams of trained experts as AGI first-responders.
We believe our research direction fills a stark gap in the current AI research landscape. Rather than predict potential safety and alignment issues, or attempt to build a better “pre-AGI” model, we’re focused on three specific goals:
- The immediate development of an empirical method for determining if an AI model is NOT capable of “most intelligence-based tasks a human could do.”
- The development of an external, practical methodology for giving models real-world agency.
- The development of a scientific methodology for investigating claims related to the emergence of AGI that can be replicated by the general public.
