Creation of an Anishinaabe Round House

Don protégé

As Canadians begin to wake up to the horrors and long-lasting effects of colonization, many are asking how they can contribute to seeing the Calls to Action of Truth and Reconciliation become a reality.

While to many, the horrific truth about what has and continues to occur may be new, for Indigenous communities across Turtle Island, these truths are in our blood. Reclaiming ways that were stolen have been underway for decades and often done at a very grassroots level. Communities have been creating intentional cultural spaces where none exist and from the funding of those same community members. The thirst for what was, what we knew, what we still know in our bones and blood is still there and needed more than ever.

This fundraiser aims to help with the cost of building a traditional Anishinaabe Round House on Chippewa of the Thames First Nation. Envisioned is a space of learning, community, healing and growth. A space where community may gather, celebrate, socialize, feel connected to land, traditional ceremonies and one another.

For those that are serious about Reconciliation, the creation of this space would be a massive step forward for the Anishinaabe peoples of Southwestern Ontario and beyond. A leap forward in the restoration of community, cultural teachings and language revitalization.

Are you serious in seeing Reconciliation be a reality?

Is your organization serious in seeing Reconciliation be a reality?

Is your church serious in seeing Reconciliation be a reality?

Reconciliation needs to be at the pace, needs and wants of the Indigenous communities and we're letting you know here, this is a pretty darn good first step...
