Création plaque 111th Engineer, 25 août 1944 à Bonlieu

Bonjour,

L'association DROME44 de Savasse, lance un projet à Bonlieu-sur-Roubion. Nous voulons apposer une plaque commémorative en l'honneur des soldats américains du 111th Engineer Combat Battalion , qui le 25 août 1944 défendent en sous-effectif le village de Bonlieu-sur-Roubion, contre un assaut allemand de grande envergure.

Les Engineers sont submergés, 8 sont tués:

-George B Butt (Tech/5) Company H&S.

-Charles P Kemeny (Pvt) Company A.

-Volney B Simpson jr (Pvt) Company A.

-Ephraim F Watson (Pfc) Company A.

-Joseph A Calvari (Pvt) Company A.

-Louis F Rullo (Pvt) Company A.

-Norval E Sparks (Tech/5) Company H&S.

-David A Newcomer (Colonel) Corps of Engineer

Et 28 sont blessés et capturés.

Nous inaugurerons cette plaque le 25 août 2024, pour que la mémoire et le courage de ces hommes perdurent et ne tombent pas dans l'oubli.

Une cérémonie sera dédiée avec des reconstituteurs et des véhicules américains de collections, une gerbe de fleur sera déposée.
