Creative Disabled Man lost everything in Floods.
Donation protected
My name is Daniel Jones and I'm Ray Parry's best friend and carer.
Ray is an elderly man with Intellectual Disabilities that was rescued from his rental home in South Lismore during the 2022 Lismore floods.
Ray has lost everything he owns.
Ray is currently living with me, sleeping on my loungeroom floor. Ray loves art and also lost over $2000 in art supplies.
We would like to provide Ray with a cabin in a flood-free zone which includes an art studio. Ray has asked that he now remain in the countryside away from town.
He will be living at a flood-free property and close to Lismore.
We are also hoping we can provide him with the supplies to start his art back up so he can use his art to recover.
The building of the cabin and Ray’s art studio will be overseen by Disaster Recovery Shed and Assistance-DRSAInc (an Incorporated Association with Fair Trading NSW. INC2200442)
Although Ray has an Intellectual Disability, he is a very loving and caring man. Ray has helped many people after the Black Summer Fires by collecting donations.
Let us pay that love and kindness back to him.
(Ray has not posted his artwork for a long time due to helping fire-affected, then Covid taking its toll on his mental health) Search Ray Parry Artist on FB to see his work).
While it is hard for many, just imagine the effect of water coming into your home, being rescued by a boat whilst already suffering with intellectual disabilities. His home was two stories already, as most in Lismore are and the floorboards sit at 7ft above the ground, so for the water to be high inside the top story of his home, that is a lot of water.
If you can help Ray build a room and an art studio in a flood-free location, that would bless him so much. Thank you for your love and kindness.
