Come Holy Spirit.... I pray for the strength to finally put my story out there (those who know me, can speak for the fact that I'm pretty private:) ), and ask for the help I need.
My name's Michele Marie. Fashion model who's been in Elle and Cosmo. From Buffalo Ny, (I hope those from Wny will support me!) and I've spent two recent years living in a convent in Los Angeles.
I've been a passionate Christian my whole life. With a very ardent calling to live my Faith in the world. I was never one to fit in molds or boxes and even in my high school days I was part of the punk/ hippie crowd. Even dated our ring leader punk drummer from England haha. Yet even though I was at home with my atheist friends, I was the one constantly at church or sticking up for the other Christians at our school.
I went to college at Franciscan University of Steubenvile, which is nationally renowned for their theologians, and summer conferences.
I had never seen such dynamic-orthodox (a phrase that was coined there:) , and charismatic faith anywhere. I had found something to live and something to die for. Somehow I found myself spending more time in the adoration chapels than even my classes. I felt this unexplainable relentless call to be out there in the world and one day looked down at my too skinny arms and thought, hmm fashion modeling, maybe. . . that was it?? At this point I was probably in those adoration chapels a good 5 hours a day and trying to pour out my heart "God if you were to let anything happen with modeling (hmm, and I know it shouldn't as I'm only 5 71/2 and waay to short for the agencies) you know literally the only purpose would be to spread You and what I've found here".
To make a really long story somewhat in brevity, when things took off & I went overseas, I went from virtually no experience to having spreads in Elle and Cosmo magazines.... and calls from Nyc starting in just a short 6 months. I came home because I didn't want to continue the Model and Fame seeking life; I wanted to switch over to ministry and use my gifts for God, and fulfill my end of the bargain.
Yet, I think God has a way of humbling us when we think we're ready :)
I needed to be crucified (so to speak), to die in both will and flesh and become "subdued"- I'm referring to a prayer tract I got on my birthday the year I came back. We so often want to do great things for the kingdom, but don't realize just how much of our pride is still there and needs to go.
I became bedridden and deathly ill for 8 years. Mostly~ I'd say I was this bad 60-70 percent of the time, and the rest still Completely unable to function.
Stabbing liver pain and the organ almost failing (due to hidden celiac disease), blood vessels bursting all over my body, soo weak I'd be panting, near hyperventilating and in tears it would be so hard to make it 50 feet, to my kitchen or to make it out of a car. It's hard being around someone so sick and I became completely isolated. All relationships except for my mum abandoned me. . . not just for a few months but years and years. I just lied in a cave that was my bed. I had both protestant and catholic top charismatic teams and priests who didn't know me, telling me I had a curse of rejection on my life. Life became soo dark and suffering-laiden that honestly I lost faith in God (and in my wrestling mind if he existed, His Love) for years.
(more often than not for almost a decade I looked like the first pic...almost NO muscle on my face or body, barely able to sit up )
I know I need to keep this short, but a Preview of the Healing Testimony ~ a Priest from Los Angeles took me in and my Life has not been the same!! I remember a while after living in this mission house and former active convent .... and trying to come out of the many year stretching "dark night" of the soul (which spiritual directors had discerned I was in). Long hours in the chapels would end up seemingly fruitless, until one day he (my priest) came in and with out saying a word sat next to me. God was radiating through him so much, that I was literally taken into the supernatural like I was in my younger college days. I started to learn we are all called to be Tabernacles of Jesus, so literally that others can and will be called into an experience of the Divine.
And the Divine from that point on I was enamored in. This mission house for the young people he let in, was literally a piece of Heaven on earth that you could feel. It was a Presence of the fire of my Franciscan Uni of Steubenville, even in Hollywood.
Faith -In The World, the Los Angeles chapter began ...
A very humble networking and evangelization circle for those in the arts and entertainment industries began. Yet within a few years...
Ministering took place with some of the the top in LA Fashion, Playboy mansion workers, MTV personalities and more.
We've become friends with LA's Huge Christian Film Fest (The Pan Pacific), Christian Artist Network, Family Theater Productions in Hollywood, and more.
The Mission continued....
My mission house unexpectedly closed as it lost it's free sponsorship this year, in the spring of 2015.
It was a sad moment for us, but in the death of something God always brings new life and resurrection.
I came home to NY for a year to further work on healing physically, and to pray about what "new life" God may be bringing about with the ministry. It seemed that the timing was right to expand and not remain so underground, in only one city.
I've been working with developers to launch a brand new Global Social Network for any Christian, that's Creative.
This is for - Bloggers/ Writers - Artists- Designers- Musicians- MINISTRIES- Photographers- Directors- Speakers- and so many others. Everyone does Something Creative.
Anyone, Any age, can find new friends, free collabs, paid gigs, and more.

Before this can be launched I need your help (thinking of you, my friends in Buffalo and LA! And beyond) to make my ministry dream a reality.
If this stays small (say 10,000 members or under) this can be run off of 2,500 a month. (Covering extremely low salaries for me, another separate moderator, and developer fees for those we're steadily working with and who can fix bugs. That is really low but I did live as a missionary for years :)
If this starts to take off further, this will need it's own dedicated server, fully managed at $1000/ m +Plus the salaries we were just discussing would need to go up. Safely, then it can be run at $4000 a month which for 12 months equals 48,000. I'm starting with a goal of 20,000; then maybe if it looks like we'll grow even more I'll raise it to the 48,000.
If all isn't used the first year, it will be used the second :)
To make this work I'll need Monthly Sponsorships.
I'm looking for a goal of 100 people to sponsor this ministry at $20 a month. (or more if you feel called)
And a few sponsors / advertisers at $500-1000 a month which will get you featured on our front page!
(That would be a God- send of help for us, and massive targeted exposure for you!)
I've always believed in the power of giving back, and have even tithed myself, for about 6 years.
From the beginning of this ministry years ago, we've always "tithed back" meaning that we don't even keep all of the donations. 10% of all my donations have always back to both "Food for the Poor", and I've given back with Rosaries, books, and other religious gifts to those in Hollywood.
