Creepatorium & SCR3AM & SUGAR expansion!

Donation protected
The Haus of Horrors is expanding and we need your help to make it happen!

One year ago HORRID opened its doors as a hub for the local horror and alternative community. The space was designed to bring local artists together and help sell their wares, as well as provide a physical location for community members to gather. Over the last year we have hosted over 50 events ranging from vendor markets, to monthly book clubs, to larger events like our annual Sacrilegious Sunday. To say it’s been a wild year is in an understatement!

In all this awesomeness we have quickly outgrown our space. The community has grown so much that we now include not only the original horror shop, but also an in-house horror coffee shop, SCR3AM & SUGAR, as well as an in-house burlesque troupe, Consensual Circus. Through luck (and maybe a bit of community manifesting) we were able to sign a lease to take over the ENTIRE building of our current location!

What the expansion will look like:

HORRID will stay where it is and continue to provide a space for local horror vendors and all your spooky needs.

The backside of HORRID (where SCR3AM & SUGAR is currently located) will be transformed into a four booth tattoo shop for both local artists and traveling horror tattooers.

The next-door lobby space attached to HORRID will become the new SCR3AM & SUGAR cafe. They will continue to serve all the drinks you’ve come to know and love but will also be opening up as a full cafe with various food offerings.

The event space in the back will become Creepatorium. This 1,600 sq ft space will become the home to all Consensual Circus and HORRID events as well as a completely customizable event venue available for the community to rent.

We would love to soft open around January 1st, so time is of the essence!

What we need:

If you’ve ever renovated a building, you know how expensive it can be. We are starting from scratch to be able to zone and permit a new body art establishment, venue space with a beer and wine license, and cafe space with a food retail license. We have to install and upgrade plumbing, build out the cafe counters, and make sure it’s all up to code so that we can pull the appropriate permits to serve food, alcohol, and have a tattoo shop. While we apply for small business loans and invest everything we can from our personal accounts, the costs are already piling up and we are looking to raise $20,000 to help us stay afloat while converting the space. The community contribution allows us to stay ahead of things and be able to open sooner!

Funding goal:
$20,000

Allocation:
$10,000 of plumbing (according to our contractor estimates)
$5,000 towards Creepatorium build for sound and lighting equipment, a custom stage with curtains and furniture for our guests.
$5,000 towards the SCR3AM & SUGAR cafe for the carpentry build out, new lounge and workspace furniture and all of the supplies to stock up the cafe for opening.

What you can expect from us:

You, our community, means the world to us. Truly, we would not AND could not be doing this if it wasn’t for the unwavering support you have given us over this last year. This expansion is a dream of each of ours and we are so grateful to be able to make it a reality. We cannot wait to provide our community this truly unique space. We will use this space to provide a safe space to connect with each other, learn new things, and cultivate community in a way the world so desperately needs.

With all the love from the bottom of our dark little hearts!!!
