Cremation Expenses for Matthew Mark
Donation protected
Matthew passed away July 22, 2024 from a fentanyl overdose.
Matthew was my father, in the loosest meaning of the word. I would love to be able to come on here and ask for donations for a man who was selfless, a staple in his community, or a hardworking family man, but unfortunately this is not my reality. If I am going to ask for donations, I will be truthful. My dad spent his life in active addiction. As many of you probably know, having a loved one suffering from addiction comes with more than just drugs. It often comes with prison time, rehab, halfway houses, stolen belongings and lost time. As much as you try to prepare yourself for something like this to happen, it is absolutely impossible. I am not only grieving the loss of him, but also the dream that he could turn his life around. At time of death, he lived with my grandparents in their South Bend home. They are retired and live on Social Security. He was not married, making my brother and I next of kin, and financially responsible for this expense. My dad was not a man that prepared for the future, so unfortunately, he did not have insurance, or any money set aside in case he passed away unexpectedly. Since there is nothing to fall back on, I am humbly asking for donations to help us pay for his cremation expenses. I understand that not everyone can donate, but if you can share this post with others, it would mean a lot to me. Your support, whether financial or simply through kind words, is invaluable.
