I know many people have questions about what happened to dad and to be honest i dont have the strength at the moment to answer every single persons questions so ill just put it here. Monday January 22nd I got a call that the ambulance was at dad's apartment and he wasn't breathing. When I went there they were still doing CPR for quite some time but the officer said it wasn't looking good. I thought they had said they got a pulse back. So they decided to transport him to the hospital just a block away. They had talked about airlifting him to a bigger hospital but once at the hospital they lost his pulse again and they had to stop CPR and dad passed. I was next to dad's sides when they stopped CPR and got to be with him for sometime after.
I know dad had damage to his throat from the tubes going down his throat from his last surgery. He was having trouble swallowing and at times would wake up unable to breathe. He did go to the specialist and they said the bone in his throat was damaged and started growing spures on it which was causing some swelling in his throat. He was supposed to be having surgery to fix this but obviously didn't made it that far. My guess is he woke up unable to breathe because of these issues and called 911 as he wasn't able to get his breathe back like he had in the past. This could have been the cause or, it could have been something else that we don't know about.
Phil and i have gone through so much paper work and have made so many calls and it doesn't appear dad had any sort of life insurance or will. I'm really just hoping anyone can help with anything at this point. I don't have 4,000 to cover the cost of dad's ashes but will put it on credit cards if I need to.
We appreciate all the kind words and any help anyone can give at this time. We will have a celebration of life for dad shortly after we get his ashes back and everything else sorted out.
