Cremation for Candace Herring my birthmom
Donation protected
Hi my name is Nicki Stephenson and my birthmom Candace Herring suddenly passed away on December 6th at the very young age of 64. She became very sick with sepsis and her organs began shutting down. She was found in her wheelchair unconscious on Sunday morning at the nursing home. They brought her to and sent her to the hospital where she died 2 days later. I am grateful I was there holding her hand when I gave the okay to remove support. I'm grateful I was there to hold her hand till the end. As a very dear friend said to me Nicki, Candy brought you into this world and you were there by her side to help her walk away
For the last numerous years she has bounced around from nursing home to nursing home. Unfortunately in the end she pretty much only had a handful of us left in her life. (No other family, only her disability check, obviously no life insurance.) I will be contacting social security and also illinois department of public health for any type of $ help to pay for her cremation as well as an urn for her cremains. Prices are all over the place but I have found a couple that would run around $2500-$3000. There will be no service and her cremains will remain with me until we find a final resting place in which we are in no hurry for.
Those that dont know Candace was 15 when she got pregnant with me. I was very lucky to be adopted by in my opinion the best family I could ever ask for. Finding her was a dream come true, but being able to introduce candy to my mom kathy, that was beyond a dream. Candy always talked about how great my parents raised me.
Candy had 2 other daughters Sandy and Julie as well as a couple grandchildren. Unfortunately I was never lucky enough to meet them, and I really know nothing about my birthmoms family but I couldnt not mention those that I knew of.
Unfortunately I dont know anyone else from her family as they had all somewhat gone their separate ways. That is why me and randy are taking this on financially. I can't turn my back on the person who I wouldn't be here without. I was terrified at 18 when I got pregnant with my son I can't imagine 15. I thank God that she didn't abort me.
Anyway any and all donations are appreciated. Thank you and God Bless
