Cressey Family Fire
Early on Sunday morning, Nov. 17th, Wendell and Brittany Cressey
awoke to the smell of fire in their trailer in Harpswell. The fire quickly spread
and the two, along with the family dog, had to jump out the bedroom window
to escape the quick moving flames. The only good news of this tragic loss was
that their 3 daughters, Alyssa 12, Taylor 11 and Callie 8 were having sleepovers
with relatives that night and were not put through to horror of awaking to a
blaze of that severity. The fire completely destroyed their trailer and all their
belongings, including the shed out back and all the tools in it.
Wendell and his family are now staying with relatives in Freeport and
realizing the numerous things they no longer have and will eventually have to
replace. To make matters worse, Wendell is a commercial fisherman and his
license requires him to live in Harpswell. So they will have to find an affordable
place to live in Harpswell
The Cressey’s are a well known family in the community of
Harpswell, that volunteers at sports events and many other activities.
With the holidays upon us, it would be truly appreciated if you could
help make sure that their daughters can still have a wonderful Christmas and the
Cresseys can start to rebuild their lives in 2020.
