Help Cricket Dreamboat's Ulcerative Stomatitus!

Cricket Dreamboat is our dear two year old chihuahua mix that my family adopted from a shelter in upstate New York when he was 3.5 months old. He is the sweetest and smartest pup and is a professional hot water bottle who is happiest under the covers. We could not love him more. He is the best friend in the world to me. For the last year and a half Cricket has been suffering with pain and is often unable to eat due to the open wounds in his mouth. He was diagnosed with Chronic Ulcerative Paradental Stomatitis this summer which is a painful condition caused by an immune response to plaque and tartar that causes ulcers on his tongue, lips, and inner cheeks. We have found that between expensive cleanings, and home care with dental wipes, a dental diet, and medication, that after just a few weeks the ulcers to reappear. For the best chance at a healthy pain free life, a total extraction is the recommended treatment. Because he is so small at only 4.6 pounds, this is a difficult and long process done in installments because all of his nerves are in such a small area and roots of teeth in smaller dogs are deeper. Yesterday he had his third extraction and cleaning and we are struggling with debt and more upcoming vet bills. Half his teeth have been removed. There will be a final surgery to remove the rest of his teeth scheduled when he has his follow up mid December. For the final surgery he will have to have his cheek cut open to remove the remaining teeth because of the scar tissue built up from the ulcers making it a difficult and lengthy procedure. We are hoping to have a much happier and healthier boy once we can afford to have all of the teeth removed! We are so grateful for anyone can contribute anything to help our family get Cricket the care he needs so he can have a long and healthy life. The expense is just beyond our means.
