Crisis in Afghanistan
If you have been following the latest news from Afghanistan, you know that the situation is rapidly deteriorating and the humanitarian crisis is growing by the hour.
According to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, "an estimated 270,000 Afghans have been newly displaced inside the country since January 2021 – primarily due to insecurity and violence – bringing the total uprooted population to over 3.5 million".

In recent days, the city of Kandahar has seen its own share of the internally displaced families fleeing the conflict areas. with nowhere to go and with little or no governmental or aid organizations support, these families are left to fend for themselves. This crisis, combined with the sweltering heat and the lack of a basic, functioning humanitarian system in the city has created a dire situation of life and death, especially affecting the women and children, the most vulnerable segment of the society.
Afghan Learning Academy (www.afghanlearning.org), a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization which has been providing educational and humanitarian services throughout Kandahar is well positioned with its vast network of local volunteers and organizers to provide the much needed humanitarian support these families need. In the past week, we have been providing food, shelter, blankets, tents and other first aid essentials to the newly displaced families. With your generous donations, we can expand our reach and help more families in need.
Your support is urgently needed and will go to the neediest of the needy. Please give generously.
