Crisis of Phillip DeMio and family

Dear Friends & Colleagues,

Dr. Phillip DeMio's private medical practice, which provided essential care to disabled children and adults for 18 years, was regrettably closed in October 2022. The practice played a vital role in supporting individuals and families who faced barriers to accessing necessary treatments due to prejudice. This closure has adversely affected Dr. DeMio's ability to contribute to the life and recovery of his severely disabled patients.

The compassionate care provided by Dr. DeMio was instrumental in aiding many sick children and adults on their journey to recovery. Unfortunately, the closure has once again left these patients and their families facing prejudicial obstacles in meeting their medical needs, resulting in tremendous hardship.

In response to this unjust situation, Dr. DeMio has initiated legal proceedings to address the wrongdoing. The ongoing battle in the courts is not only financially burdensome but also emotionally draining, impacting him in both professional and personal resources and well-being. These challenges continue.

Gratitude is extended to those who have already offered their support, and we are thankful for the continued assistance from others as we persevere in this fight for justice for us and for disabled persons’ rights to healthcare access.
