Crisis Relief for Suzanne Rose
Donation protected
My name is Janet Jones and I'm the younger sister of Suzanne Rose. My sister has had a rough time, to say the least. The only way I can explain her grief is to start from the beginning.
My sister's only child was killed.
Marynn, was 24 years old and moved to Austin, TX from Santa Maria, CA.
On July 11, 2015, Marynn was killed at the hands of a drunk driver.
Words cannot describe her grief except to say she has still not recovered from the loss of Marynn. I don't think a parent ever truly recovers from a loss of a child. The man who killed her has been in jail since the accident and she was just notified that a plea bargain has been arranged and his sentencing is March 7th.
On February 6, 2017, her husband Bruce died of a heart attack.
He was only 54. It's hard to put into words the sadness I see. She's broken and trying to press on but it's hard.Suzanne and her husband are self-employed. She's not eligible for widower benefits of any kind. She's faced with not being able to go to the sentencing in Austin for financial reasons.
This can't happen.
She needs to be there. MADD-Mother's Against Drunk Drivers has offered to read her victim statement if she's unable to attend. For Suzanne, I can tell you that she needs to see him and he needs to hear her words and feel her pain. I've been fundraising for her but time is short. I will accompany her now that Bruce is gone. She needs some financial help getting to Austin and also a financial cushion to give her a moment to catch her breath. I've been here over the weekend at her home and she's having plumbing problems. Minor or major repairs, who knows?
It's something to worry about. No matter what your state of mind...these kind of problems are stressful to most everyone and extremely stressful for her right now. Our mom used to say when it rains it pours. This takes that reference to a whole new level.
Can you imagine.....what next?
I have never asked anyone to make donations for someone before today. I have donated to strangers and friends numerous times over the years. I can tell you that my sister really needs the help. Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated. Suzanne misses them so much. No amount is too little.
What this means to us. Our road trip.
My sister, myself and my 14-year-old daughter will be setting out on Saturday or Sunday. We're doing random acts of kindness to strangers across the states. I know that on this trip there will be tears of sorrow but I know we will be able to shed tears of happiness too. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to show my daughter the effects of drugs/and or alcohol and getting behind the wheel of a car. Her cousin was killed and it doesn't get much more real than this. It's all about choices.
Thank you for reading my sister's story and thank you for your warm thoughts and prayers.
I know she has appreciated them.
