Cristian Cruz medical expenses

On May 20th, our sister and brother-in-law (Robert and Belma Cruz) experienced an incident, we hope as parents we never have to endure. Their son Cristian Cruz (11 years old) was involved in a ranger UTV accident. The UTV tilted on its side, pinning Cristian’s right lower leg underneath. Thankfully there was a tractor on the property that they were able to use to free his leg. Cristian was life-flighted to Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston Medical Center, with tourniquets in place to control bleeding. Thankfully there was no arterial bleeding on arrival to ER, but he sustained extensive trauma to his leg, which consists of an open Tibia-Fibula fracture and a large amount of calf muscle/ tissue missing. Cristian went to surgery immediately and was admitted to PICU. Within a week, Cristian has received 4 blood transfusions and has been to surgery 3 times with hyperbaric treatments. Unfortunately, he still has a long road ahead, including multiple surgeries for bone reconstruction, muscle flap, skin grafts, and physical therapy.

We are very blessed that Cristian is here with us today and that he is receiving the best treatment at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. We all know Cristian as an athlete, and we pray every day that he will be able to enjoy what he loves to do the most…PLAY SPORTS!!

Belma and Robert have been by his side every minute of the day since his accident, but this also comes with financial hardship by missing work. The family is starting this GoFundMe to help with the medical bills that will soon begin to pile up; as we know, insurance does not cover everything. We greatly appreciate all the love, support, and prayers we have been receiving.
