The Crooked Spoon Cafe Fire Recovery Fund
Donation protected
On the afternoon of April 13, 2020, a devastating fire broke out at the Crooked Spoon Café in Grand Marais, Minnesota, engulfing the entire building in flames and resulting in a total loss. The fire also spread to the two neighboring gift shops, Picnic and Pine and White Pine North. All three are small, family-owned businesses; thankfully, nobody was injured.
The Crooked Spoon, beloved by both locals and tourists and widely regarded as one of the most innovative and high-quality restaurants in Cook County, has been operated by Sara and Nathan Hingos since its opening in August of 2006. Their fresh, seasonal menus support many local and regional producers. They also employ a fantastic team of servers and kitchen staff who were treated like family. Sara was able to recognize and remember hundreds of people who entered their doors to enjoy incredible food and service over the 14 years since the restaurant opened. She will remember their names and their stories.
Please consider giving to this fundraiser to support the family during this incredibly shocking and difficult time. The City of Grand Marais is also working to establish a relief fund at the Grand Marais State Bank for each of the three businesses affected by the fire. Updates will be forthcoming.
Please share.
