CROSS HANDS HALL & CINEMA COMMUNITY FILM & ARTS PROJECT
PLEASE HELP TO SAVE OUR BEAUTIFUL HALL & CINEMA
The Charity was formerly known as Llannon and Llanarthey Community Centre, it is now formally recognised as CROSS HANDS HALL, CINEMA & COMMUNITY CENTRE.
This hall dates back to 1932 and was built by the Miner’s Welfare Institute FOR the community and is still run BY the community. Supporters of the Cinema continue to work hard every week to provide access to the latest films, we also listen to requests and run themed film nights for families, children and young people in the community. We are a vibrant group of enthusiasts who are passionate about film, please see our website: https://crosshandshallandcinema.co.uk and facebook page: www.facebook.com/CrossHandsHallCinemaCommunityCentre (Please join and like our page)
We desperately need your help to continue our good works and for the heritage contained in this beautiful building to be maintained for future generations to enjoy.
OUR PLAN:
Firstly we require funds for urgent repairs and upgrades to the building and the car park.
Our broader aim (If we can raise enough funds) is to give back to the community that has supported us through over 90 years of history, survived enormous social challenges, and always come through for its own.
We recognise that children and families have struggled so much over recent years and we want to provide a space to generate community spirit, support access to film and arts projects, support other local charities to hold fundraising activities, and to provide affordable access for children and families on low income support.
We are hoping to use any funds raised for the following projects
- We are proposing to run specific film events for children to access for free.
- We hope to hold specific events where films will be screened in Welsh in recognition of our Welsh heritage and support of the Welsh Language.
- We will be offering concessions to local schools and charities to hold fundraising events in the Hall
- We will be encouraging the use of the hall for shows, pantomime, dance or cultural events
- We hope to use any funds raised to support these projects for the community and in the best interests of the community.
- We hope to develop the scope of events we can offer with the input of new volunteers and community based ideas, please contact us if you feel you can add to our development to support local people.
We are consistently looking for people who would like to be involved with any of the above projects and are genuinely interested in helping us SAVE this very special place and enabling it to once again become the heart of this fantastic community.
Our more recent aim has shifted to the large commercial kitchen at the rear of the building, forming part of the community centre. We recognise this could be a lovely space, with the right equipment for use by all ages of people. Possibly for those starting out in business needing to hire a kitchen for the day or as a Community Kitchen space going forward with funded cooking groups and activities taking place. We have lots of ideas around this but desperately need your help to bring our vision into sharper focus. We hope you can join us on our journey to support this amazing resource for everyone.
PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY AND HELP US SAVE THIS BEAUTIFUL BUILDING FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS TO ENJOY!
