Crossing the Himalayas with a Rickshaw for Charity

This July, Olivier, Sebastian and Thijs will take on the challenge to cross the Indian Himalayas in a tuk tuk. Why? Because (1) we like a good challenge, and (2) we look to raise money for charity. And we need your support!

The Challenge

We will start our adventure in Leh, Ladakh, located in the Himalayas of Northern India at 3,500m altitude. From there, we will travel ~2,000 km south to Jaisalmer in the Rajasthani desert. We will have to cross mountain passes (up to 5,328 meters of altitude), pass through deserted valleys and navigate the Indian traffic. We can hear you think: this is rather unsuitable terrain for a tuk tuk ... which is precisely the point of this adventure.

The Charity

With this trip, we are raising money for the Smile Foundation, one of India's biggest NGOs. The Smile Foundation aims to empower underprivileged children, youth and women through relevant education, innovative healthcare and livelihood programmes. Last year, the Foundation provided direct education to over 100,000 children across 23 states of India and helped 1,000,000 people in remote villages access critical healthcare services.
