Crossman Family Fund
In October 2014, Preston received a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) to treat his worsening heart failure. September 2015, he was placed on the transplant wait list for a new heart. It was a "tall order" (pun intended) to find a match for our 6'7" hunk, but we had hope, and the VAD gave us time.
In February of this year, Preston was admitted to the hospital with alarming poor kidney function and extremely elevated heart pressures. Soon after he was moved to ICU and things were looking grim. Preston's numbers improved with medication and he was bumped up to the top of the transplant list. After a two-week stay, our fighter was discharged from the hospital, but the decline in his kidney and liver function along with the limitations of hospitalization had taken their toll. But we clung to hope that they were looking at a wider range of hearts and he was top of the list.
This past week we found out that Preston's liver function is too poor to support a new heart and he has been removed from the transplant list. While we ask for prayers that his liver function could rebound and he might get placed back on the list, we realize that the chances are slim at best.
We are determined to make the most of the time we have together. We have decided to spend as much time as possible with family and friends, near and far. With Beth as the sole breadwinner, any donations to help cover travel, fun, bills and necessities is appreciated. Thank you in advance for thinking of us, offering your prayers and help.
