Crouton’s CCL Repair
Donation protected
Jeff and I adopted Crouton in 2015 when she was just six months old. In the last eight years, she has brought so much joy to our lives, and to the lives of literally everyone she encounters (and many that she's never even met in person!) Since 2018, Crouton has helped us give back to our community by being the best foster sister to more than 25 homeless dogs. Now it's our turn to ask for a little help for her.
Crouton has torn her right canine cruciate ligament, or CCL (basically the equivalent of a human ACL). Unlike in humans, CCL tears are not necessarily caused by a specific injury or incident; sometimes the ligament just degenerates over time. This seems to be the case for Crouton, as she previously tore the same ligament on the other side.
Our trusted veterinary surgical team has decided that an extra-capsular repair is the best choice for Crouton's leg. We're very lucky that they could get her on the schedule soon, August 15th, which will be followed by 8-10 weeks of strict crate rest to promote healing. The estimate for her surgery (which we’ll share in the comments) is $2,750. We certainly don’t expect to raise the entire balance, but would be so grateful for anything you can spare toward our sweet girl's care. We will be sure to share updates on Crouton’s recovery here and on social media! Thank you so much for your support. -Carly, Jeff, Crouton, and Maxine
