THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO MADE THIS POSSIBLE - SOUND SYSTEM HAS BEEN ACHIEVED AND HAS ALREADY BEEN SEEN AROUND THE TRAPS.

Hi, my name's Steph, co-owner of The Recordstore (the one just a block back from Oxford, on Crown) and we're raising money for a community sound system.

For years now, during Sydney's Mardi Gras, we've been involved in an impromptu street party on parade night. Starting on the front porch of an empty store next to cafe Lounge on Goulburn Street in 2016, the party's grown to fill almost all of Crown Street down from Oxford to Campbell, with a number of small systems providing tunes.

We used to roll one of our store speakers out the door, but they’re bolted to the roof now, so last year we cobbled together a rinky system at the last minute. It did the job, but we had to push it to its max to cover just the front of the store.

And that got us thinking, what if the Recordstore had a proper sound system, always available, at the drop of a hat, to bring the noise at any opportunity.

And that's what this fundraiser is for. Once we achieve our goal, we'll not only commit to throwing the mardi gras street party, evcery year, but finsding, making an taking any opportunity to set this baby up to create dancefloors for you.
