Crucial Need of Funds for Service Dog Training
Donation protected
My name is Kathy. I am 52 years old, and I have a lifelong disability of Cerebral Palsy. Over the last couple of years, I have learned that I am in dire need of a service dog. My hope is that a service dog will be able to help me from frequent falls, help me get back up if I fall, and help aid in the increase of disabilities that come with aging and my disorder. As I get older, the need for a service animal is crucial. Currently, I have made frequent calls to EMT services and neighbors to assist me with my falls. Things that a service dog would be able to assist me with include: Opening doors, retrieving items for me, and assisting with emotional support during medical appointments and in times of crisis. I have recently been accepted into SIT: Support and Independence through Teamwork. They primarily work with training service dogs for people accepted into their program. They are based in Illinois. I have waited 5 years to receive the support of a service dog. I know that now more than ever, it is imperative that I continue with this program and receive the support of a service dog. SIT: Support and Independence through Teamwork, works on breeding, training and placing service dogs to serve people with disabilities. Their mission is to improve the lives of those with disabilities, by making their lives easier. SIT will be able to support me through fostering my own independence, while also creating an emotional bond between my service dog and myself. I am very excited about being a part of this program, because they will be able to work with me one on one. They will help me train and develop a bond with my future service dog. I like how SIT breeds their own dogs on site and how they socialize their pups from birth. Although their program deserves recognition, this GoFundMe is only to receive funds for myself to find a service dog with SIT, not to donate to their organization. These funds will be used to train a service dog with SIT to help with my needs. If you would like to learn more about SIT, this is a link to their site: https://www.sitservicedogs.com/sit-service-dogs To proceed with the program, I need to come up with $5,500 by March 19th, 2024. If I do not meet this deadline, it will delay my participation in the program. I would appreciate any help given to me during this time. If you can donate to my cause, I plan on posting consistent updates about my journey to obtaining my service dog. I am very hopeful that I will soon be able to continue with this amazing program, thanks to your support. Thank you!
