CTEPH Surgery- Pulmonary Hypertension

Hello!

It's really hard for me to post this, but I am at a point where I need to ask for help from others.

I normally take care of myself and don't like to ask others for help and have a hard time receiving from others too, but sometimes you have to humble yourself and be honest and let others know your needs.

I recently let everyone know I was diagnosed with CTEPH: Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension. Left untreated I have 1-3 years of life left. However my pulmonologist felt I am a candidate for PTE surgery and referred me to UCSD, the leading hospital for this surgery, helping many basically get "cured" so they can get back to a normal life again, able to breathe and function without limits like Ive had over the past year.

I am supposed to fly out this Saturday, 2/3/24 and go through evaluations the 6th-8th.

If all goes well with the evaluations I am scheduled for surgery 2/13/24.

The surgery is long and tough. I will be on a bypass machine and have to break my sternum to get my lungs to remove the clots I have. This would allow me to breathe better and open up the arteries that supply oxygen.

The surgery can take 6-10 hours. Ill be in ICU and in the hospital recovering for about 3 weeks.

I have been blessed by one Aunt who has provided me with a flight to get to San Diego.

I have applied for family housing for my mom to stay while I'm in the hospital. Many hotels offer discounts for families with patients at USC, but there's no guarantee on your stay. Im basically on a waiting list for something to become available. So they recommend you have a backup place to stay. We had a VRBO reservation that I just found out this morning fell through.

So now my stress and anxiety is through the roof because I wanted me mom to have a place secured for her stay while I recover. Everything is so expensive, especially now last minute!

I have not been able to work since mid October. I have applied for disability but it hasn't kicked in so finances are really tight right now.

I unfortunately do not have the resources to borrow or charge the expenses I have ahead of me.

So, I am basically asking for financial help. I know many people are struggling themselves, so I completely understand you can't, so then I just ask for your thoughts, positive vibes and prayers for me and my journey to get better.
