Owners Nelly and Franco have dedicated their lives to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of stray, sick, and mistreated dogs in the beautiful region of Sicily. Over the past 10 years, they have created a sanctuary, working endlessly to save dogs from all backgrounds, nurse them to health, and show them what it is to be loved. During this time they have re-homed over 1000 dogs, Nelly and Franco have truly made a remarkable difference in the lives of these precious animals in Sicily.

What sets Ciccio Garibaldi apart from other shelters is its unwavering commitment to providing its canine residents with the absolute best quality of life. Many of the dogs in their care have been rescued from deplorable conditions in other kennels throughout Sicily. At Ciccio Garibaldi, every dog receives comprehensive medical attention, regular nourishment, daily exercise, and comfortable living spaces. To ensure the dogs experience the warmth of human companionship, Nelly and Franco have established a network of dedicated volunteers who devote their time to socialising and showering the dogs with love.

However, maintaining such a high standard of care demands significant financial resources. Nelly and Franco find themselves in a challenging situation, desperately in need of donations to ensure the continued happiness and well-being of new and existing dogs in their sanctuary. Here is a breakdown of the crucial expenses they face:

Puppies when arriving:

Microchip = 35€

1x parvovirus vaccine and 2x poly vaccine = 40€ each

1x antirabies vaccine = 45€

3x vermicide = 10 euro each

2x anti parasitic = 30€ per month.

Vaccine booklet and record = 10€

1 veterinary appointment without dog examination or extras = €30 on a weekday and 50€/60€ on the weekend

One bag of food 15kg = 45€

Passport and change of owner’s name = 35€

Adult dogs when arriving:

2x poly vaccine = 40€ each

1x antirabies vaccine = 45€

Microchip = 35€

1 veterinary appointment without dog examination or extras = €30

Sterilisation + pre-op tests = 240€

2x vermicide = 20€

1x antiparasitic every 3 months 40€

Vaccine booklet and record = 10€

Food 20kg = 26€ per bag

Passport and change of owner’s name = 35€
