Cuellar Impact Scholarship

I would love your support in contributing to this scholarship fundraiser. Any amount is greatly appreciated! The donation deadline is April 30, 2023. Six scholarships will be awarded at the scholarship assemblies on May 9th and May 11th in Weslaco, Texas.

My name is Jamie Giron (Balli). I am a former student of Weslaco High School (Class of 2011) and Cuellar Middle School, which are schools located in the small town of Weslaco, Texas. Weslaco is a city in the Rio Grande Valley area, between McAllen and Harlingen, and near South Padre Island. It's as far south as you can go in Texas without leaving the state.

Throughout my academic career, I was constantly inspired and encouraged by teachers and staff in the community of Weslaco, especially those at Cuellar Middle School. Throughout my life, I've been surrounded by a strong support system including my parents, my family, my friends, my classmates and my coworkers. In honor of those who have provided continuous motivation and support in my life, I decided to create this scholarship opportunity to give back to my community and to invest in the next generation of leaders.

Last year, I did not do any fundraising, but I was able to donate gift cards to six outstanding students (photographed below) in my former teachers' classes at Cuellar Middle School.

This year, I am fundraising to award scholarships to six outstanding former students of Cuellar Middle School who are graduating from Weslaco High School and Weslaco East High School in May 2023 and who plan to attend college. My goal, through this scholarship opportunity, is to help two deserving students with the costs related to higher education and to give back to the community.
