$1 Provides Bread to One Hungry Ecuadoran Family

Hello. My name is Ed Lindquist and I am the Managing Director of Cuenca Expats Magazine, the largest English-language publication in Ecuador. We only need to look out our office windows to see the needy of Ecuador, and we are doing what we can. To date, we have donated bags of bread to the neediest of families and we are committed to doing much more, but we are out of funds. With utmost respect, we are asking for your support. Anything you can spare is appreciated as all donations go to feed hungry families. To make it easier to support these families, we have formed the Loaves of Love Project and this gofund page.

Bread is a staple of the Ecuadoran diet, and by contracting with a local bakery, we can bake and deliver fresh nutritious bread to a hungry family for only $1. Each bread-bag contains 17 small or 8 larger loaves of bread.

You may have seen the international news headlines on the health crisis caused by COVID-19 in the small South American country of Ecuador. Less reported is the destructive economic impact on the daily lives of the people, especially the poor, and the 500,000 Venezuelan expatriates forced from their homes and country. Many countries have established a safety net to assist families in desperate need; not so much in Ecuador.

We understand it’s never a good time to ask for donations, especially on the wake of a pandemic. But ask we are because it is vital for, they, who need your help, to survive. All it takes is $1 to make a difference to a family in need.

With your help, our goal is to provide bread to another 5,000 hungry families. Only with your help can we achieve this goal. So, please help, and thank you for your support

“There are people in the world so hungry, that God cannot appear to them except in the form of bread.” —Mahatma Gandhi
