Support Joe's Dream of Reviving an Ancient Dog Breed

Our passion, purpose, and life’s work is to bring one of the world’s most ancient dog breeds, the Alaskan Malamute, back to its roots and ensure the future of this breed, which originated 10,000 years ago in Arctic Alaska. Our mission is three-fold, and we hope we can count on your support:

First, continue building a strong stock of Alaskan Malamutes, which embody the true, ancient attributes prized by the indigenous peoples and all those who stewarded the lands of Alaska and the Arctic territories. This is accomplished with costly 3–4-month expeditions through the Arctic, which bring out the joy and purpose in these athletic animals and challenge and condition the dogs to become more robust and resilient physically and mentally.

Secondly, we want to inspire breeders and enthusiasts of Alaskan Malamutes to safeguard this breed to stay true to what our Creator intended. This is accomplished through hours spent publishing literature and creating videos, leaving a record of knowledge and experience that only 40 years of working and living with this breed can provide. It is critical to share this knowledge to assure the Alaskan Malamute’s future as a breed that can work and thrive in the Arctic versus a vanity breed.

Thirdly, it is our dream to improve the living conditions of our Malamutes to the most free-range environment possible when they are not in the Arctic. We hope to enlarge their kennel to include a large circular fenced area for the dogs to run and play freely during their off-season in the summer and fall on our property in Salcha, Alaska. The estimated cost for labor and materials is $30,000.

Currently, the cost of caring for our 42 Malamutes is covered by myself and my wife Jan. It is a labor of love as I spend every extra hour I have as a diesel mechanic to cover the costs, which include food, healthcare, and Arctic expeditions, totaling over $50,000 annually.
