Cullen's Heart Surgery
Donation protected
Cullen was born at 1:01am on Thursday, April 25th at Sanford in Sioux Falls. At his 20 week ultrasound his doctor noticed something was missing and we were referred to Maternal Fetal Medicine. After visiting with many specialists, it was confirmed that Cullen had a heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. We would not know the extent of the defect until he was born.
Cullen was doing better than expected immediately after he was born. We were told surgery could be held off for about 6 months. Since birth Cullen has been in the NICU and with a few complications and additional tests surgery has now been bumped to 4-8 weeks from now.
We are incredibly thankful for great medical insurance, but not all of the medical and associated costs are covered. There will be an upcoming (2 week minimum) trip to Michigan for Cullen to have open heart surgery in Ann Arbor and then follow ups 3 hours from home. Sam is looking at being home with Cullen for a few weeks post surgery as well.
We appreciate all of the prayers and kind words received thus far and ask you to continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
