Cultural Exchange to Popo Carnival in Ivory Coast
Donation protected
Greetings Supporters.
My name is Sandra, I am a 3rd generation Carnival costume designer from Trinidad and Tobago. Kendell is a popular, award-winning J'ouvert band leader. Together, we are working on the cultural exchange with Pan Evolution Steel Orchestra and our Traditional J'ouvert Characters invitation to the Popo Carnival Committee, Ivory Coast. We intend to raise funds covering travel, accommodations, and general expenses to participate in the Annual Popo Carnival in Bonoua, Ivory Coast. To share a bit of history, the Bououa carnival tradition is one of the most original and closely connected to the Carnival traditions of the Caribbean.
"Popo Carnival in Bonoua is a celebration of the cultural heritage of the Aboure people. Running for one week, the carnival is considered to be the Ivorians' version of Trinidad and Tobago's traditional carnival and involves gastronomic competitions, pageants, traditional dances, and sports days. People parade down the street in bright colours, holding placards and dressing up in reference to the carnival's name 'Popo', which means mask."
As part of our humanitarian efforts, we intend to contribute to the Stewarts of the tressured M'Ploussoue' Parc in Bonoua, home of the Popo Carnival!
Your contribution will be essential in manifesting this mission of cultural exchange and reconnection. Thanking You in advance.
