Revitalizing & Repairing Our Historical Church
Donation protected
Community United Methodist Church, a historic landmark in Jackson Heights, Queens (New York), has stood proudly for over a century now, serving as a beacon of hope in a dynamic, ever-changing community. Over the years, this sacred space has been a place of worship (including services in multiple languages) and a vital hub for community activities and gatherings. Moreover, the building serves as home to 82nd Street Academics, where young minds are educated.
However, time has taken its toll on our church, and it is now in desperate need of extensive roof, tower and parapet repair work. The aging infrastructure threatens the safety and integrity of the building itself. A professional architectural review of the structure was completed, and the estimate of needed repairs comes at a cost of over $500,000, a massive amount for a small but growing congregation. Landmark restrictions on building options greatly increase our external repair costs. Also, because of the need for costly scaffolding to make repairs in a safe manner, all the repairs on the upper part of the church must be done at the same time.
We are appealing to your generosity and support in raising the necessary funds to undertake the crucial repairs needed to safeguard our church building. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a significant difference in preserving this historic landmark and maintaining its role as a vital community resource! Thank you for taking the time to consider this important cause.
