Cupid's Eye Removal Surgery

Donation protected
A little backstory...In April of this year I decided to foster 2 puppies with Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue. One of the pups, Cupid, was born blind in both eyes from how she was bred. But she was so special. She saw with her heart. Not only did I fall in love with her, but so did my family. (Even our 12 year old Dachshund/Beagle Mix Mistletoe loves her now!) I couldn't keep Cupid in my current apartment in Manhattan so my parents, and sister who was home from college at the time, without hesitation or question took her in to our home in New Jersey. It wasn't much longer before we signed the papers and adopted Cupid to be our own.
Fast forward about one month into us having Cupid, her right eye started to get red, swell up, and we learned that she developed Glaucoma in the eye. We were advised to give her 3 different types of eye drops 3x a day. More time passed and her eye wasn't improving and we learned she now has an ulcer on the eye that is in danger of rupturing and she has been feeling pain and pressure on the eye. The doctor explained to us that it feels like she constantly has a severe migraine. All of our attempts to salvage Cupid's eye have failed and she sadly she must get her eye removed immediately. Her surgery is set for next week on October 2nd
Unfortunately, being born blind is a pre-existing condition and is not covered with pet insurance. We have been seeing a veterinary ophthalmologist for the past 4 months. Her medications, vet and specialist visits, and now her eye-removal surgery, or enucleation have proven to be very costly. I know adopting a blind puppy was not part of my parent's plan at this point of their lives and they have not been able to prepare for it financially as much as they would have liked to. They are the most selfless people I know and have without hesitation said yes to whatever the doctors recommended for Cupid. My sister Olivia and I want to do all we can to alleviate some of the costs for them. Absolutely anything will help. No donation is too small. We plan to use any of the extra funds to donate to The Blind Dog Rescue Alliance to help other families with Blind Dog's and their medical expenses.
