We are so excited about the Curbfest for Political Prisoners, the first of which will take place in Philadelphia on Saturday, September 18, 2021. CurbFest is a music event that spotlights political prisoners to build awareness of them in our community. CurbFest will be a continuation of The PorchFest for Political Prisoners, a spinoff of the West Philly Porchfest, both of which took place on June 5, 2021. Curbfest is the first project of “Mentoring the OG Revolutionaries,” a collective of young organizers who are collaborating with seasoned organizers on political education projects. We are working with the Coalition to Bring Mumia Home, Maroon Party for Liberation (working to bring home Russell Maroon Shoatz), Original Black Panther Members, The Jericho Movement, Ubuntu ⇔ Freedom, The Black Philly Radical Collective, The Black Alliance for Peace, The Abolitionist Law Center and Mary’s Daughter for the Formerly Incarcerated.
Curbfest was developed in Philadelphia, and the first CurbFest will kick off with 9 curb locations near Germantown and Chelten Avenues in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA. Featuring local DJs and artists, each curb location will highlight specific political prisoners and offer ways to get involved. Mentoring the OG Revolutionary is also developing a toolkit to be used by collectives in other cities and neighborhoods. Our goal is to help organizers in every community in the country to engage their neighbors about the fight to liberate our prisoners of war in this inviting and edutaining way. Already, there is a Curbest happening in Boston, MA on September 25th. We are excited to see how comrades around the country adapt our original idea to fit their communities.
Mentoring the OG Revolutionary intends to provide fun, safe and healthy political education and community engagement events. As a young newly-formed collective, we need your financial support. Please do more than make a donation! Please also plan a Curbfest in your community. We will show you how.
