Hi, my name is Shauna and I am mom to Cash and Ace my two boys.
This is my son Cash's story:
When I was 29 I found out I had a connective tissue disorder that tore my aorta and I had emergency open-heart surgery. Luckily I was saved but unfortunately, my mother did not 2 years ago.
Shortly after my final ct scan post surgery I found out I was pregnant and told to abort my baby. I chose to keep who I believed was my miracle baby and carried him until full term. During my pregnancy, I was placed on a medication (safe for pregnancy) that has now been pulled off the "safe for pregnancy" list.
At the age of 2, I noticed Cash had a lot of developmental delays and he would scream for 45 mins-2 hours every night uncontrollably with no medical diagnosis I turned to alternative resources.
Cash is now 10 years old and although his screaming every night stopped around 5 years old, he has had a wide variety of treatments and supplements along with a neurological brain scan in Oklahoma which shows severe delays, the cause unknown.
Cash is a beautiful little boy that is currently on the wait list to obtain a medical diagnosis for Autism in BC. He has no funding or resources and his diagnosis without the wait is $4000 to get him full-time help and school.
He struggles with focusing on anything for a length of time, can barely hold a pencil properly to write, limited sleep patterns and extreme behaviours to any loud noises also extreme dietary preferences limiting nutrients.
He was diagnosed as a level 3 autistic ( the highest level) in Alberta however his diagnosis does not transfer provincially in Canada, he has extreme allergies to dry environments and does really well in the Okanagan which is where I have fought to call home.
As he grows older I see how he has more and more challenges and am beginning to become concerned about his ability to one day function as an adult and on his own.
He will eat very limited food items, has outbursts that are violent and destructive to our home and other family members, we have been kicked out of multiple homes because of his sound levels, tantrums and stimming and screaming creating a challenging environment for everyone.
So I have turned to the last resort at World Stem Cell Clinic in Cancun, he is booked in for surgery on August 21st and with travel expenses and immune support the cost is over 30k.
I am looking to raise 10K for him, I went and explored the facility and met the doctor in December and it truly is incredible. They specialize in pediatrics and autism and have been practicing for many years.
They will extract Cash's supercells from his spine, taking bone marrow and then reinjecting it into him. The whole idea and concept are for any of the damage that was done in utero from the chemicals to be pushed out and give his body and brain a better chance at developing.
I pray to give my boy the best chance possible in this life as every human should. He tells me he wants a family, one boy and one girl and he wants to build houses for a living and I really, really would like to make sure I have done everything in my power to give him a chance to acquire these dreams.
