We are actively working with his doctors to schedule my dad's treatment as soon as possible, which would be at the end of January. Our family is forever grateful for your consideration of a financial gift.
Our full story and expenses are outlined below:
MARTY'S STORY
On March 17, 2022, our strong, loving, fun-filled 65 years young dad, who our kids call “Papa Marty,” was diagnosed with locally advanced pancreatic cancer. To say we were all devastated by this news would be an understatement. He and my mom had just retired after serving churches and their various communities for 36 years and were looking forward to a retirement filled with time spent with family and friends. This lethal illness threatens to take this away. Dad’s current health status is that he will not be a candidate for surgery, which is the only cure in the United States for this type of cancer. While chemotherapy is currently keeping his disease at bay, the oncologist has said that the cancer will gradually become resistant to the chemo and there is no other viable standard of care treatments available.
In the meantime, our parents have researched and sought out clinical opinions from various doctors, hospitals, and other pancreatic cancer patients. In doing so they have found a credible way forward with a medical doctor named Dr. Jason Williams, who has been at the forefront of immunotherapy and ablation procedures, perfecting them for the past two decades. After a consultation with Dr. Williams, and speaking with a pancreatic cancer patient for which this treatment has been successful, we have found much to be hopeful about! Our family envisions a possible cure for Dad if he can receive these treatments.
Although Dr. Williams has offices in the United States, he must practice and carry out these life-saving innovative procedures at the Williams Cancer Institute in Mexico. This means that my parents’ insurance will not cover the cost of treatment, and travel costs will also accrue as we are anticipating 3 trips to Mexico for our dad to receive care. While our parents hesitated to even have a Go Fund Me, the reality is that we need your help in this endeavor.
We are setting up this Go Fund Me account because we love our dad and we want him to have the very best chance at life. We want my Mom to have “her person” around for many years to come to enjoy their retirement and family together. We desperately want our kids to grow up with their Papa, to truly know him as they get older and to have him be the wonderful role model that he is to us. As a family, we humbly ask if you will consider financially giving to help defray the cost of this life-giving treatment. We will be forever grateful for helping us CURE PAPA MARTY!
