Curtis Park Shares Meals
We are a group of neighbors and friends in the Curtis Park area of Sacramento who are attempting to raise money to help alleviate food insecurity in the neighborhood directly adjacent to ours—Oak Park. Sacramento is above state and national averages for individuals and families that don’t have enough food. The need has recently grown by nearly double from pre-Covid-19 levels to now include 250,000 people who are food insecure. As people continue to lose employment, this need will increase.
a small but significant benefit is we are partnering with Allora, an Italian restaurant on Folsom Blvd in Sacramento who will prepare sacks of 4 complete, carefully prepared and nutritious dinners for one family or an individual for 4 nights (at only $20/sack). That means the restaurant can retain some of its own staff in the face of a take-out only downturn. With $5000.00 we can provide 50 meals per week for 5 weeks!
Because we are working through a restaurant, unfortunately there is no tax-exemption.
When we reach our goal (or near it) we will then transfer donations collected and send the sum electronically to Allora Restaurant and begin the sharing of meals! We hope to begin distributing wholesome, delicious food to Oak Park community distribution centers early this summer 2020.
please consider helping out if you can.
Thank you!
