Curt’s Pediatric Fibrolamellar Carcinoma Crusade

Hi, my name is Jill, and I am setting up a GoFundMe for my nephew CJ Sutherland.

Most of you have been following the ongoing journey with Curt in his battle to fight Fibrolamellar Carcinoma for the last four years. Unfortunately, the fight continues. He has two small cancerous tumors located behind his pancreas and near his spine, close to some major aortic arteries, that need to be removed. They are in a tricky and delicate location which is why they have sought out CJ’s original surgeon who has the understanding of this rare cancer. They need to travel to Boston for the surgery, where the surgeon is now located. CJ’s Dad is now at a different job and his Blue Care Network Insurance ISN’T AUTHORIZING them to leave the state to allow CJ to receive the best possible care.

The tumors need to come out ASAP to avoid growth and complicating their removal. CJ and his family need help to make this happen.

We can only imagine as friends, the stress the parents are feeling, having to face another complicated surgery AND fighting the insurance company to have it covered. I am hoping to offer them a little less stress with some financial assistance available to pay for the necessities and possible out of network surgery cost.

The original $25,000 raised four years ago was immensely appreciated and was exhausted during his first surgery in Chicago.
