Curvy Girls Los Angeles

Donation protected
You may not have scoliosis, but I can practically guarantee you know someone who does. Scoliosis affects one out of every forty people; please donate in support of those people and people like them!

Background:
My name is Natalie and I lead Curvy Girls of Los Angeles, which is a support group for girls who have scoliosis. In June 2015, the Curvy Girls from around the world are doing a walk to raise scoliosis awareness and funds for all Curvy Girls members and some parents to attend our next convention in June 2016. In June 2016, girls with scoliosis and their parents from the various groups around the world will be attending the third biennial Curvy Girls Convention in New York. Convention provides girls and parents with many incredible opportunities such as developing friendships with other girls/parents who understand their struggles, gaining a sense of empowerment, and learning methods of how to control both the physical and emotional struggles that come with having scoliosis both from medical professionals and from other scoliosis experts.

My Mission:
As leader of the Curvy Girls of Los Angeles, not only is it my responsibility, but it is my wish to ensure that everyone can afford to attend and has the opportunity to indulge in this wonderful experience as well as to keep the local group runnning! I attended the last two conventions and at both, I had the time of my life, met some of my closest friends, and learned more about my condition than I could've ever imagined. My experiences were incredible! In 2016, I hope to go back with some more of the Curvy Girls of Los Angeles to learn the latest information on scoliosis to share with the Curvy Girls of Los Angeles and with the online Curvy Girls community. Please help me fundraise to support the future of this phenomenal cause and to help make 100% Convention 2016 attendance possible! Thank you!

Fundraising Statistics:

Members of the Curvy Girls of Los Angeles: 50 (many of whom are too young to travel alone, so we'd like to sponsor some parents too. Parents go to separate parent workshops and info. sessions too.)

Convention Costs:
         1. Convention attendance $300 per person (includes food,
          empowerment/awareness workshops, and informational
          sessions with top scoliosis physicians)
          2. Cost of travel (approx. $700 per roundtrip plane ticket)
          3. Cost of hotel room (approx. $270 for both nights)

This means, $1270 per Curvy Girl and $1,000 per parent
