Cushion Karen's Catastrophe

Hello, my name is Julie Turley and along with our siblings, I'm fundraising for our dear youngest sister Karen. On July 1st, 2023, she was hospitalized with necrotizing fasciitis, a rare, rapidly moving bacterial infection that is often fatal. A dedicated certified nursing assistant for decades, Karen collapsed during her hospital shift at St. Mark's in Salt Lake City. Her right leg was amputated to save her life. Her medical team also had to remove significant tissue on her torso and abdomen as they chased the course of the bacteria. She will remain in the ICU for the next month or so for wound care and skin grafts and then will endure months of rehabilitation, as she adjusts to a radically different life. Karen has been on her own for years in Salt Lake City, supporting herself and her young adult son on a CNA's salary. This fundraiser was requested by her wonderful colleagues at St. Mark's Hospital. Funds will go directly to Karen's medical expenses and general support. Feel free to share.
