Help a Holiday Assault Victim Get Back on His Feet

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alyssa Bohack and I am creating this GoFundMe for Nelson Lime.

Nelson has a huge heart, and recently invited a man we will call "G" who was down on his luck and having some other troubles come live with him. Nelson wanted to help G with his problems and be a role model for him.

Christmas Eve, Nelson came home to the apartment a mess, and it had been that way for a while. Many times, Nelson had gently asked G to help clean up, but that wasn't working. When Nelson got home, he again gently asked for help and started cleaning. When G shut himself in his room and didn't come out to help, Nelson knocked on the door and asked what was wrong. G came out of the room wielding a Katana. A Katana is a Japanese fighting sword, and G collects them. They are very sharp and deadly, and G knows how to use them.

G lunged and slashed at Nelson, eyes bulging and "talking nonsense," as Nelson put it. Nelson managed to fend him off, but not after getting cut on the nose and getting stabbed in the face, nearly losing his eye.

Nelson ran from the apartment with a deep gash by his eye, bleeding badly. He got in his car and called my boyfriend, Chad, a former US Navy Corpsman, and asked for his help. When he got to us, Chad immediately told Nelson he needed to go to the Emergency Department and off they went. The ED doctors patched him up with stitches and sent him home to his parents’ house, but something was still not right.

Later the next day, his face swelled up and the sutures started bleeding. He was in a huge amount of pain; his father brought him back to the ED, where they drained the now-infected wound and did a CAT scan. They discovered he had a high cheekbone fracture and a scratched cornea, which may need surgery.

Nelson is currently getting IV antibiotics and is on a Morphine drip. He has such a big heart and it is devastating that he was attacked so violently by a person to whom he showed such kindness. We were inches from losing a loving friend, son, and brother. Thank goodness we did not.

He has helped so many people, it is our turn to give back. He is a builder and will not be able to work for a long time; he will have huge medical expenses, and has rent to pay, a monthly truck payment, and may other expenses, including supporting his family. Other immediate expenses and bills are due that need to be reconciled, so please open your hearts and give generously as soon as possible. Nelson is a tremendously generous soul who needs our help! Let's show this great person the same love he has shown to so many.

UPDATE DEC. 28
Nelson's infection is proving quite resistant and is spreading; it has now reached his neck and the doctor's are trying everything at their disposal to get on top of this. Until this clears, they can't even address the injury! He is still in the hospital and we don't know how long he's going to have to be there.

As the length of his stay increases, so do his financial woes! Please give whatever you can - every little bit goes so, so far!

Finally, Nelson would like to express his extreme gratitude to those who have donated and who continue to support him in any way they can!
