LINDA KANIA'S MEDICAL FUND

Dear family and friends,

My name is Joan and I am organizing this fundraiser to help my sister, Linda, pay for her extensive medical bills. Linda was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer in January 2021, and it has spread to her lymph nodes and her brain. Having never smoked, this came as a complete shock to everyone who knows her. Her only symptom was a persistent cough, which she could not get rid of. Since then, she has been taking a very expensive medication (Tagrisso) to reduce the size of the tumors, which has been effective so far. Unfortunately, this medication cannot be taken long term due to losing its effectiveness after some time has passed. Linda has approached this timing; therefore, she will have to switch to something else like Chemotherapy/radiation or (possibly participate in) a clinical trial at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. To make matters worse, in March 2022, Linda was hospitalized for five days with blood clots in her legs and lungs. Her recent blood clots, stage 4 lung cancer, and type one diabetes has exacerbated her medical bills. Additionally, she is supporting her husband who is also fighting throat cancer simultaneously.

Linda is continuing to work as a Pharmacy Tech, and thankfully still has health insurance. However, it doesn’t cover all the medical expenses, and she has used up all her vacation and sick time for the year due to PET scans and many dr. appointments. The medical bills and deductibles are quickly piling up. Linda is a sweet, kind, and thoughtful sister, wife, and mother of two, who has always supported her family and friends.
