Prosthetic Eye for Cancer Survivor
Donation protected
Hello, everyone. My name is Bex, or Rebecca. I am a cancer survivor. My battle started 13 years ago when I felt a lump in the back of my upper jaw, behind my back molar. A dentist, also a close family friend, suggested I go to a doctor with more experience in this area, as he thought I might have a tumor. Since then, my life has been amazing. I met the love of my life, went to school, and have an incredible family and an equally amazing group of friends. But these beautiful moments were marred with the looming threat of a reoccurrence of my tumors. In 2017, at the age of 26, I was told that my tumors were coming back so quickly and growing so rapidly and aggressively, that removing my eye was the best action to take. I remember that day so vividly - my mom, my cousin, and I cried so hard. I was told that if we didn't proceed with surgery, I may not live to see my 27th birthday. The choice, though very heavy, was easy. Now, at 32, I've had many surgeries to reconstruct my face and have several more down the line, but most importantly I haven't had any reoccurrences of the tumors in almost 4 years. I can continue to live my life. Living with one eye is very difficult, people are extremely and unnecessarily cruel, but the cost of a prosthetic eye, even with insurance, is out of reach. If you can donate to my cause, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. And if you can't donate, it would mean the world to me if you could share this page. Thank you for taking the time to read. Have beautiful day.
