Rebuilding 100 Homes in Haiti
Donation protected
I’m a Haitian PhD student in Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University. Recently, my family members and their neighbors have been severely affected by the hurricane Matthew. In fact, my mother-in-law and one of her daughters along with their neighbors have lost their homes and all their belongings. Consequently, they’re currently sleeping in the open air, which is very dangerous. My mother-in-law and her daughter live in a rural area of Haiti called Bonne Fin/Polika, located in the southern region of Haiti. Living in the countryside, they’re all farmers; and sadly, they’ve not only lost their houses and belongings, but also their means of subsistence i.e. their crops. For the moment, as you can imagine, my family members are in a dire situation. Being a graduate student, I’m unable to provide them with necessary means to rebuild their houses. That is why I’m appealing to your compassion and generosity to help me with whatever you can give so that I can provide people in my community with a new home. My goal is to raise money to help 100 families rebuild their homes in the Bonne Fin/Polika area. Based on an initial estimation, it will cost $ 11,500 to rebuild one home. Whatever you can give for that cause will be appreciated and will be used to help those who really are in need.
As a members of the affected community, my wife (Lita) and I taken the initiative to start a non-profit organization called "Friend of the Afflicted" to manage to collected fund. Registered with the state of Michigan, the aforementioned organization is up and running. The collected money will help the inhabitants of our communities Bonne Fin/Polika rebuild their homes. A total of 100 families will benefit from the collected fund through the rebulding of their destroyed houses. No fund will be handed directly to anyone; but we'll make sure the collected funds are used to reconstruct the houses for the most vulnerable members of the above communities. Thank you very much for your contributions! Many Blessings.
