Starting Over After the Eaton Fire

Hello everyone,

My name is Sandy Gonzalez, and I’m writing this with a heavy heart after the devastating Eaton Fire destroyed our home. We lost everything in the blaze, but we are holding onto the blessing that everyone made it out safely.

For over 20 years, my family has called Altadena home. This community has been the backdrop for countless cherished memories—family gatherings, holiday celebrations, and milestones that have shaped our lives. I came to Altadena from Mexico at the age of 6, and it quickly became a place where I felt truly at home. Recently, my mom and I were reunited with my sisters Jocelyn and Evelyn, along with other family members from Mexico. This made our bond to the community even stronger. Now, as we face the painful reality of displacement and the uncertainty of what comes next, we are reaching out for support.

We are thankful to be alive, but the road ahead feels uncertain. I will be withdrawing the funds raised on behalf of my family, which will help us maintain a sense of stability and move forward during this difficult time.
